Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s daughter Lilibet celebrates her first birthday amid Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee


On Saturday, Lilibet, Meghan Markle’s and Prince Harry’s little girl celebrated her first birthday. As her family returns to the UK for Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations, the little girl is celebrating her first birthday here. PEOPLE Reports indicate that Lilibet’s royal family wished her a happy Birthday.

The Duke and Duchess are in the United Kingdom to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee. They were also able to introduce Lilibet the Queen during their trip. Lilibet was named after her monarchic moniker, which is her family nickname. Markle and Harry’s three year-old son Archie were also present at the meeting. Elizabeth is expected at the Sussexes’ party on Saturday for the celebrations. 

During their return to the United Kingdom, Harry and Markle stayed at Frogmore Cottage. Following their May 2018 wedding, the couple stayed at Frogmore Cottage. Frogmore Cottage, Queen Elizabeth’s residence is just a half-mile away from Windsor Castle. It makes it convenient for her to visit. As they celebrate Lilibet’s first birthday, the duke and duchess are expected to spend the day in private. The duke and duchess shared the news of their baby’s birth one year ago, and said that their child was named after two women from Harry’s past. 

“Lili was born on Friday, June 4 at 11:40 a.m. in the trusted care of the doctors and staff at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara, CA,”They read their statement. “She weighed 7 lbs 11 oz. Both mother and child are healthy and well, and settling in at home. Lili is named after her great-grandmother, Her Majesty The Queen, whose family nickname is Lilibet. Her middle name, Diana, was chosen to honor her beloved late grandmother, The Princess of Wales.”
