After Liverpool’s goal against Newcastle, supporters engaged in heated debate.

Jurgen Klopp’s players traveled to the northeast to meet another one of the most-playing Premier League teams right now. Reds and Magpie supporters were at each others’ throats after James Milner challenged Fabian Schar in the build-up to Naby Keita’s slick goal.

Fans were furious after VAR reviewed the incident, and decided to allow the goal stand.

One blasted “Not only is it a great challenge by Milner, I can’t see how the other lad got injured.”

Another insult: “FFS Milner foul before Keita ‘goal’ Andre Mariner the ref & of course Mike Dean on VAR obliges.”

Another one was raging: “Milner keeps on getting away with these dirty fouls.”

However, other supporters said that the former Manchester City player’s tackle was a fair one.

Newcastle fans weren’t happy, but the Reds celebrated.

One stated: “Quit yapping, he kicked Milner !!!!” A second one concurred: “What are the Geordies moaning about there? Never a foul, cracking tackle from Milner.”

Another assessed: “Schar actually kicked James Milner there, as Milner got to the ball first and the Newcastle man kicked Milner’s calf. Keita with a great finish. Rightly stands!”

The Reds were facing off against Eddie Howe’s men as two of the most in-form teams went head-to-head at St James’ Park.

After Keita’s goal, Boos were heard all over the ground

Liverpool are on Man City’s tail in the Premier League title race, while Newcastle have already clinched their survival and are merely looking for a top-ten finish.

Howe spoke about Liverpool’s quality going into the game. He stated: “‘When you play Liverpool and Manchester City, it’s about getting the balance right between being solid defensively but also giving them a threat and posing a problem the other way.

“I totally understand why those teams have set up as they have. But we will try to be as aggressive as we can and try to give them a problem. We definitely don’t want to be passive or sat deep. Let us hope we are not.”
