It’s estimated that roughly 7.5 million people, mostly women, are the victims of stalking every year. Stalkers have a new tool to find them.
A stalker can use the same Apple device to locate you, and it can even help you find your stuff.
Model Brooks Nader (25), told Inside Edition that it happened to her and she now has a warning for other people. She believes someone may have put the AirTag in her coat while she was with friends at a New York City bar and restaurant.
“It was the scariest, scariest moment ever,”Nader stated.
The AirTag can be attached almost anywhere and can be used for missing items like keys or wallets. You can track the AirTag anywhere you are using an app.
However, creeps now use them to track unsuspecting individuals
“I had no idea that these existed until it happened to me,”Nader stated.
“Once I was already on my walk home, I got the notification, someone is tracking you and has been for awhile, so I freaked out obviously,”Nader stated.
The notification stated: “Unknown accessory detected. This item has been moving with you for a while. The owner can see its location.”
Others have been similarly affected by the device.
After being notified that she was being tracked, a woman posted a video in which she searched her car for an AirTag.
Former “Bachelor”Cassie Rudolph, his ex-girlfriend, accused Colton Underwood of using a similar device after their breakup to track her.
“Check your belongings, check your surroundings,”Nader stated.
Apple users will receive an alert that they’re being tracked. But it won’t happen to Android users. Track Detector is an Apple app that allows everyone to receive such notifications.
