In New York State, a teenager died in a juvenile detention center. Times Union reported.
According to the Times Union, authorities are looking into the death of a 19year-old boy who died at the Capital District Juvenile Safe Detention Facility in Albany, New York.
Inside Edition Digital received a statement from Lt. Daniel Belles, spokesman of Colonie police, saying that officers and personnel from the town’s emergency medical services responded to the call at 3:00 p.m. for an unresponsive individual, according to the Times Union.
“Colonie EMS performed life-saving efforts, but were unsuccessful. There were no obvious signs of criminality, but we are thoroughly investigating,”Inside Edition Digital was informed by Lt. Bells. “The facility has been extremely cooperative with our investigation to this point, and we expect that cooperation to continue.”
Inside Edition Digital was informed by Lt. Belles that the department doesn’t suspect violence or foul play.
Lt. Bells stated that the victim was being held in a juvenile detention center and authorities wouldn’t release his name. However, he did confirm that the victim was a male.
Inside Edition Digital reached Capital District Juvenile Secure Detention Facility in an effort to get their opinion, but they have not yet responded.
According to Lt. Bells, authorities have completed an autopsy Friday. Police are still waiting for the results.
