Neymar “refuses to believe” after Brazilian singer Marilia Mendonca dies in plane crash


Brazilian icon Neymar shares his shock and disbelief after hearing that Marilia Dias Mendonca (brillian pop star) has tragically passed away in a light aircraft accident.

The plane is believed to have crashed in mid-afternoon, near Piedade de Caratinga in the Southeast of Brazil.

The 26-year-old singer was one of five reported dead in the crash, with Mendonça’s uncle and advisor Abicieli Silveira Dias Filho releasing a statement.

It says: “With immense regret, we confirm the death of singer Marília Mendonca, her producer Henrique Ribeiro, her uncle and advisor Abicieli Silveira Dias Filho, the pilot and co-pilot of the plane, whose names we will preserve at this time.”

After that sad update, Neymar sent a tweet with a crying Emoji: “I refuse to believe, I refuse.”

Mendonca was a big star in South America. Her album Todos os Cantos won triple platinum status in 2019.

She was also a mother to Leo, her son in the same years.

Dias Filho added: “The plane took off from Goiania with destination to Caratinga/MG, where Marilia would have a performance tonight. At the moment, this is the information we have.”
