Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office was part of a Post on FacebookLieutenant Chad Brackman was a 22-year veteran in the sheriff’s department. He was not on duty when he was struck by a car.
Although the details of this incident are still unknown, Sheriff Paul Penzone at a press conferenceIt occurred while Brackman was on-duty as traffic control.
Unidentified driver hit the officer with his vehicle, inflicting injuries which Brackman later died from.
“It is with great sadness that I share with you Lieutenant Chad Brackman was struck by a vehicle this morning. Lt. Brackman, a 22-year veteran of the Sheriff’s Office, was transported to the hospital with serious injuries, where he later passed away,” Sheriff Paul Penzone said in a statement.
The 47-year-old leaves behind his wife, four children, and a large extended family, .
A Facebook post said so.The Scottsdale Sheriff’s Department stated that counseling services would be provided for anyone in need. In partnership with the Memorial Fund, they plan to host a car wash in order to raise money for the Brackman families.
“Chad Brackman was a significant person. His sacrifice was extraordinary. It is a tragic loss.” Penzone said during the conference.
“”Now, we need to come together as one community to support his loved ones as best we possibly can. Please keep his family in your thoughts during this difficult time.”
