Ousmane dembele is’stalling’ on new Barcelona deal with Newcastle keen in transfer


Ousmane dembele isn’t signing a new agreement with Barcelona due to reports that Newcastle United has expressed interest in the Frenchman.

Dembele’s contract will expire at the close of the season. It was previously believed that he had chosen to remain at the Spanish giants in December.

The 24-year-old has reportedly demanded an annual salary of just under £70million as part of his new deal.

Foot MercatoAccording to reports, Dembele and his advisors have taken their time in deciding his future after Newcastle’s renewed interest.

Barca has been pressing Dembele for a new contract, but it is understood that the player does not want to rush any decision.

Dembele’s contract is due to expire in the summer. He can now sign for another club under a pre-contract agreement.

Dembele has reportedly already received an offer from an unnamed English club which included a £17million salary and a £25million signing on fee, although talks have broken down.

According to reports, Newcastle had also made an offer to Dembele, saying that he would remain at Barca in December.

The offer included a weekly wage of £240,000 but was rejected by the player, but the Magpies remain keen on bringing the World Cup winner to St. James’ Park.

Dembele could be signed by many top European clubs including Chelsea, Manchester United (Paris Saint-Germain), Bayern Munich, Chelsea and Manchester United.

Having signed Dembele for a whopping £126million back in 2017, Barcelona have been keen to avoid losing him for nothing this summer but may now have to resign to that possibility becoming a reality.
