Richard Madeley was reportedly confirmed as the new host of Good Morning Britain. He will replace Piers Morgan.
It is thought that Richard, 65, will appear alongside permanent host Susanna Reid and is believed to be finalising an estimated £300,000-a-year deal to present the ITV morning programme.
Sources claim that he won’t be paid as much as Susanna (50), who has presented the show since 2015.
According to reports by Silver Screen BeatRichard will take over his role once he has completed his year-long stint on I’m A Celeb.
Also, it is believed that he is still negotiating how many days per week he will be available. But, it is probable that he will show up two to three times weekly.
Silver Screen Beat has reached out to Richard’s representatives as well as ITV for comments.
After Judy Finnigan’s encouraging words, Richard agreed to host GMB full-time after Piers’ March explosion.
Television insiders claim that his appearances on the morning show have been well received by viewers, which has helped him accept the full-time job.
According to a source, Richard maintained that he would not do GMB full-time because he is content with his current life.
“But as the weeks have gone by, and he’s proven a constant hit with viewers, he’s really got into his stride and has been enjoying it more and more.
“He has a great fan base and his ratings continue to rise over the past six-months.
“After a couple of meetings with ITV bosses, he was offered a staff contract. And after consulting with his family, especially wife Judy, he decided ‘sod it’ — and to go for it.”
Richard’s outspokenness and quick wit have made him a fan favourite, with many of his viral videos.
Due to several viewers still associating GMB with Piers Morgan, ITV are desperate for Richard to not be labelled as Piers’ “official”Replace.
Piers quit GMB in March, after he refused an apology for comments he made about Duchess Meghan Markle.
But the outspoken host is set to join TalkTV in the new year and will write a weekly column on Silver Screen Beat.
GMB was sent thousands of Ofcom complaints by unhappy viewers on the day that he marched off-set.
GMB fans have seen many hosts on the ITV Breakfast Show alongside Susanna since he went.
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV
