Potato Chips Recalled


It seems like the recall race is never ending, with government agencies constantly on the lookout for safety hazards and violations. In the past few weeks, several recalls involving Australia have occurred. The latest recall concerns potato chips from Australia. Smith’s Snackfood Company is pulling certain bags of Smith’s Crinkle Cut Salt & Vinegar Chips from store shelves. Per Food Standards Australia & New ZealandThe bags were sold in sizes of 45, 90 and 170-grams by the region’s government agency. The recall was initiated by the “potential presence of foreign matter (plastic pieces).”

Consuming plastic can cause illness and injury. The batch of Smith’s Crinkle Cut Salt & Vinegar Chips in question are identifiable by the “Best Before”Date Jan. 15, 2023 (marked DD). They are also marked with a  time stamp between 15:30 and 17:30. Contact The Smith’s Snackfood Company 1800 025 789 if you’re a customer that purchased the chips. They will issue a refund.

PopCulture.com covered the second plastic contamination recall this weekend. Bega Dairy and Drinks Pty. Ltd. has recalled four flavors of Dared Iced Coffee from the Australian region. These four flavors include Espresso, Double Espresso Mocha, Mocha, and Double Espresso No Sugar added. Espresso drinks have best-by date of October 6, 8, 12, 13, and 14. Double Espresso drinks are best-by dates Oct. 6, 8, 12, 13 and 14. The Mocha affected bottles will expire Oct. 5, 7, 11, 13 and 14. Double Espresso No Sugar Added beverages had best-before dates on Oct. 5, 7, 11, and 15.
