Prince Philip, Queen Elizabeth II’s husband, died in April 2021. Prince Harry, however, traveled across the pond to attend his grandfather’s funeral. His wife Meghan Markle didn’t. Now, Page SixThe report claims that Markle missed the event and Queen Elizabeth was relieved.

An excerpt from Tom Bower’s new book Revenge: Harry, Meghan and the War Between the WindsorsThe monarch addressed Markle’s lack of presence on Philip’s funeral day, per Silver Screen Beatday Times. According to the book, she allegedly told her trusted aides at Windsor Castle about it. “Thank goodness Meghan is not coming.”Philip’s funeral was held at the time Markle was pregnant by her second child, Lilibet. She could not travel the long distance from California to the United Kingdom because of this. Harry was able to make the trip after Markle’s interview with Oprah winfrey.

The Archwell Foundation published a statement from the Duke of Sussex relating to his grandfather’s passing. Harry was able to recall the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh. “a man of service, honour and great humour”Who was it? “authentically himself.”He continued to state that he will be remembered by the entire world “as the longest-reigning consort to the Monarch, a decorated serviceman, a Prince and a Duke,”But that’s for him and all those who follow. “have lost a loved one or grandparent over the pain of this past year, he was my grandpa: master of the barbecue, the legend of banter, and cheeky right ’til the end.”

Although Markle was not able to travel for Prince Philip’s funeral, she did make the trip with her family earlier in the year for Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations. The Duchess of Sussex and the rest of the royal family attended many events including the Trooping of the Colour. The family was also introduced to Lilibet, their one-year-old daughter, during their visit.

After the Trooping the Colour ceremony, the monarch met Lilibet. She was named Lilibet after her. The meeting was attended by Markle and Harry’s three year-old son Archie. Queen Elizabeth spent time with the Sussex family during Lilibet’s first anniversary on June 4. They were able to spend time together on this excursion, which suggests that everything is fine between Queen Elizabeth (and the Duke and duchess of Sussex), despite all the books.
