Radio Host Dies on-Air, in the middle of a Song


A radio host from the United Kingdom died while on air hosting his breakfast show, the radio station said. 

According to radio station’s reports, Tim Gough, 55 years old, died Monday while hosting his morning show at GenX Radio Suffolk. News release

Gough may have suffered a heart attack. 

Gough’s music was cut and re-started a few minutes later. But Gough never returned. ITV News reported. GenX confirmed Gough’s death later.

James Hazell (GenX Radio’s managing director), shared his thoughts on the passing. 

“Tim has been on the radio since the 80s and had come out of radio retirement to fully involve himself in our project from the beginning…To know Tim personally, as I did very closely for over 30 years, was to know a warm, caring, fun guy who myself and my family loved dearly. We are heart broken by the news,”Hazell.

Mark Eley, Gough’s Facebook colleague, said that Gough called him and that he called Gough. “a son, a brother, and a dear friend and colleague from the GenX Radio Suffolk family,” died “doing what he loved most.”

“Tim leaves behind a huge hole which is impossible to fill and we are all in shock,”He wrote. “I had not known Tim all that long really brought together by the birth of GenX Radio Suffolk, and in the short time I have known him, it is clear to see his talent and passion for radio and the knowledge and support that he has shown to others is huge.. I have learnt so much from Tim.

“Radio and everyone who was fortunate enough to have Tim as a friend are in for a sad day today.” he continued. “As we all come to terms this shock, my thoughts and prayers are with you. Gen X Radio Suffolk Suffolk, I am speaking for everyone. I want to thank you all for your kind words and support. We really appreciate it. Tim, Rest in Peace and thank you so much for everything.

Gough’s family is grateful for the kind messages from his fans. They are asking for privacy during their grief, Hazell stated.
