Restaurant owner confronts suspect who was seen punching and robbery man

A man attacked a restaurant outside of Los Angeles. The owner of the next restaurant tackled him to the ground, and he was held down until police arrived.

Surveillance video shows Richard Schlesinger robbing the diner and punching the victim.

Timothy Ratcliff (the owner next door) ran after the assailant, pulling him to the ground. Ratcliff’s girlfriend came out to help, as she and another woman retrieved the stolen items.

Ratcliff’s girlfriend stood on Ratcliff’s legs and kicked the thief.

“Honestly, it was like slow motion. I couldn’t believe it happened right away,”Ratcliff said.

Ratcliff said he’s been helping out the suspect for months.

“He’s been coming around the restaurant for about two months now. We’ve been giving him food, we’ve been giving him water. It’s just shocking to have it all happen the way it did,”Ratcliff said.

The suspect was to face charges in Los Angeles on Tuesday.

Ratcliffe and Schlesinger were then informed by the suspect that they had been arrested after they waited for the court hearing all day. “lost”Los Angeles’ vast jail system.

“It seems like the county or the city lost track of the guy, so it’s not a good look for law enforcement if they’re going to lose track of somebody who’s in their system,” Schlesinger said.

Despite the difficult sequence of events, Ratcliff was able to meet Schlesinger and they now share an inextricable bond.
