Richie Moriarty, Star of ‘Ghosts,’ Reveals His Comedic Hero’ Audition for CBS Sitcom


The smash hit sitcom GhostsIt would have been very different if Richie Moriarty had not been cast as Woodstone Mansion’s scoutmaster spirit. On July 21st, the ensemble cast of the freshman sitcom joined Joe Port and Joe Wiseman for their first panel to discuss their debut season of single-camera comedy. Moriarty, in conversation about the auditioning process revealed that he auditioned against Joe Wiseman. “comedic hero.”

He did not confirm the identity of the castmate UtkarshAmbudkar, but he blurted it out. “Jim Carrey,”Moriarty described it as a surreal experience. Moriarty admitted that he auditioned for the role in New York, and then flew to Los Angeles with two other actors. However, it was not an easy audition. 

“I got word that they didn’t want the other two people, so I was like, ‘Oh, so I got the job,’ and they said, ‘No, they need to present the network with two, at least two options. So now they’re going back out into the casting pool to find someone else to audition against you,'”Moriarty shared details about the behind-the scenes process at CBS.

The actor, writer and performer shared his story about how he returned home to New York two weeks after the audition. “found someone to audition”He can be upheld. “I shouldn’t say this, but I don’t care — Comic-Con, here we are! The guy I auditioned against was like, a comedic hero of mine,”Moriarty screamed Ambudkar, “Jim Carrey”With Devan Chandler Long as co-star, interjecting and asking him to confirm that the comedic hero actually gave him Oreo cookies prior to being evaluated for the sample performance.

“Yeah, he was eating Oreos and he goes, ‘You want an Oreo? So good!’ And I’m like, ‘Is this a power move?’ It’s such a power move. Yeah, like, ‘No, I don’t want an Oreo,’ like, black stuff in my teeth? And then I go and read [for Ghosts] and then like about a week later, I found out I got it,”Moriarty shares.
