Roku is finally fixing a major issue that has been ruining everyone’s TV nights

The Thanksgiving weekend for Roku users did not begin as planned. As summarized in a TechCrunchRoku customers have complained about users since Roku OS 10.5, the latest software update for their product line, was released. According to customer complaints, Reddit, Twitter Roku’s forumAfter the update was installed, many streaming apps, including Paramount+ and HBO Max Disney+, stopped working. Customers of Netflix also reported milder problems.

Roku users were utterly furious about the issue. Reddit user Write, “I feel roku owes me money since I’m now paying for streaming services that don’t work.”Another Write, “Guess my plans to by Roku boxes for friends and family as holidays gifts isn’t something I’m going to do anymore.”Roku customer on Twitter Additional, “Your lovely’ software update turned my perfectly working TV into a useless brick.”

Roku finally acted after much outcry. Roku OS 10.5 was causing problems with Roku Ultra models 4661, 4662 and 4670 as well as Roku TV model 7XXX. After discovering the issue, the company decided to rollback the update while it was being fixed. The following steps can be followed to resolve the issue:

  1. Use the Home button on your Roku remote.
  2. Scroll up and down to make your selection Settings.
  3. Select System.
  4. Select Update your system.
  5. Select Take a look now Manually check for updates

Roku customers can save their weekends by this fix. But, this will cause many to be annoyed, especially if it was not available before Thanksgiving events like Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, and networks airing Christmas specials. This is also after the initial prompt for the update Freezing issues –. The company will hopefully find a permanent solution so that this doesn’t happen again.
