Barcelona set De Jong price tag

Manchester United is not giving up in their pursuit for Barcelona midfielder Frenkiede Jong. Erik ten Hag continues to pursue a reunion this summer with his former Ajax player, which would be a major signing to start his era at Old Trafford.

According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, via Manchester Evening News, the Catalan club want a guaranteed fee of €85m (£73m) for de Jong, and that conversations are still ongoing between the two clubs, despite the Dutch international expressing his desire to remain at the Camp Nou next season.

United have yet to sign any players this summer, but it is hoped that de Jong’s signing will help convince other top targets to join the club.

United ‘ahead’Vitinha race

Frenkie de Jong is still the priority, but Man Utd is also monitoring a number other players. A Bola reports that Vitinha, Porto’s midfielder, is ahead of the Red Devils.

The 22-year-old also has links to Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain after a campaign in the which he scored four goals, five assists, in 47 competitions. He helped Porto win the league and cup double.

Vitinha endured an underwhelming loan spell at Wolves in the previous campaign, where he featured 22 times for United’s Premier League rivals, but has since come on leaps and bounds in his homeland and could yet be on his way to Old Trafford ahead of next season.

Ten Hag ‘keen’On signing an experienced player above 30

New Man Utd boss Erik ten Hag has overseen a mass clearout of players this summer following the club’s worst ever season in the Premier League, as he looks to perform a complete rebuild of the side ahead of his first campaign in charge.

With the departures of Nemanja Mata, Edinson Cavi, and Juan Mata, a lot of experience and leadership was lost in the dressing-room. Ten Hag wants to sign a player above the age of 30, to regain some of those qualities.

That’s according to Give Me Sport, who say that the Dutchman is looking to sign an experienced player aged 30 or over who can bring leadership to the United dressing room, although the Red Devils are yet to be linked with any serious contenders.
