Ryan Gosling Sells ‘Barbie’ Role Better Than Any Marketing

Ryan Gosling’s portrayal of Ken in Greta Gerwig’s Barbie film made a lot of people swoon when he appeared online. While on the road for his Netflix movie The Gray ManGosling has done quite a bit of the heavy lifting. Barbie too. If you make an appearance at The Tonight Show With Jimmy FallonGosling spoke briefly about The Gray Man, and then he talked about Ken’s role. This also includes Ken’s role in the world.

“I was surprised how some people were kind of clutching their pearls about my Ken as though they ever thought about Ken for a second before this,”Fallon tells Gosling “They never played with Ken, nobody plays with Ken…He’s an accessory, and not even one of the cool ones.”

Ken and his Barbie friends know that he is only there to provide material for the doll’s titular doll. Gosling said that the movie would handle everything with humor and that he was amazed.

“Best script I’ve ever read,”The Big Short star spoke to the late-night host about his best-adapted screenplay. “I walk out in the backyard, and you know where I found Ken, Jimmy? Facedown in the mud next to a squished lemon.”

Ken isn’t setting the world ablaze, but it is clear that he is clean-cut and well-equipped for rollerskating due to his Barbie connection. The script should be amazing considering Gerwig’s involvement. This film is Gerwig following up her Oscar nomination in 2019 for Little Women. Simu Liu, Shangchi’s star, revealed that the script also attracted him to the film.

This all matches what Gosling said about Ken in interviews after the viral photos of him with Margot Robbie. He didn’t spoil the film. He just made Ken’s existence impossible by drawing the thoughts out of his mind and making them real. “no money, he’s got no job, he’s got no car, he’s got no house.”

“Those are not plot details, those are just objective facts about Ken,”Gosling said “That’s the Ken life.”Gosling does the selling of Barbie to people who might not have seen a Barbie movie.
