Salford Quays: Man dies after entering the area with emergency services around it

After being pulled from the Ontario Quay, Salford Quays water, an unidentified man was taken to hospital. He later died.

Salford Quays Police Scene after a man falls into the water and dies

After entering a canal in Greater Manchester, a man thought to be in his 60s died.

An enormous emergency response was initiated with the unnamed patient being taken from the water at Ontario Quay Salford Quays. It happened around 11 o’clock on Thursday.

After receiving 999 calls, police, paramedics as well as firefighters quickly responded to the call near the Lowry Theatre.

The man was taken to the hospital, but unfortunately, he died.

Witnesses claimed that they witnessed a mobility scooter being loaded in a police van. Officers also bagged up other items.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said that officers were dispatched to Ontario Quay, Salford Quays shortly before 11 AM on Thursday 18 November in response to reports that an individual had entered the water at Ontario Quay.

“Emergency services attended, and a man believed to be in his 60s was taken to hospital, and despite the best efforts of paramedics, pronounced dead a short time later.

“Officers are on the scene at the moment and trying to determine the circumstances surrounding what happened.

“Police aren’t looking for anyone else in connection with this incident, and enquiries are ongoing.”
