Sima Kotecha replaces Nina Warhurst, BBC Breakfast presenter, in another shake-up

-

BBC Breakfast was given a shake-up with Sima Kokota replacing Nina Warhurst, the Sunday presenter.

Ben Thompson returned to Sunday slot as usual, much delighting viewers. But, rather than being joined Rachel Burden or Nina Burden, Nina was his cohost for the Sunday edition.

Sima announced that she was hosting the show. Fans rushed to social networks to express their joy at the change-up.

One was posted: “Enjoyed waking up to such smiling faces on early Breakfast! Good start to the day! Thank you. (More coffee now needed!)”

A second: “Awesome to see you back on the Breakfast sofa, Sima.”

Another third was added: “Great to see you Sima!”

A fourth author wrote: “Great team on the big red sofa this morning.”

Nina was seen with Jon Kay this Saturday on the couch, so it seems she is getting a much-deserved rest.

They acted as substitutes for Charlie Stayt and Naga Munchetty for the weekend. Charlie took the week off following the holiday period.

He will be back on the red couch next week with regular presenters Nina Walker, Dan Walker, and Sally Nugent.

Although Dan did appear on BBC news at the beginning, his absence was definitely noted. Jon Kay and Luxmy Gopal as well as Katherine Downes took his place throughout the week.

Dan wrote on social media after noticing fans’ concerns. “Just so you know… I haven’t left #BBCBreakfast, I haven’t ‘ taken some time out after Strictly ’ and there hasn’t been a ‘major presenter shake-up’.

“I’m just not in this week.”

It didn’t take long for fans to respond, as one said: “Enjoy some well-earned vacation Dan. We will be seeing you leave very soon.”

Another added: “We are grateful for your ‘breaking of silence’. Upon your return, you might be able to ‘open up’ about how you spent your absence.

BBC Breakfast is broadcast every week at 6am on BBC1.
