Six people are dead, twelve others injured after the Sacramento Mass Shooting.



Officials in California said at least six people were shot dead and twelve others were wounded in the mass shooting.

Sacramento Police Chief Kathy Lester said police were already patrolling near the city’s downtown area, when they heard gunshots around 2 a.m. Sunday and rushed over. 

Just as the area’s bars and restaurants were closing, the melee started.

When officers arrived, they found a horrific scene– three men and three women were pronounced dead. Twelve more people were either taken to the hospital or managed to get to it.

The victims’ identities are being withheld pending family notification. Officials claim that all victims are adults.

Sacramento Police stated that they have video of a fight on social media.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom stated that his administration is working closely with law enforcement.

“What we do know at this point is that another mass casualty shooting has occurred, leaving families with lost loved ones, multiple individuals injured and a community in grief,”He wrote.

Chief Lester stated that no suspects are yet in custody.
