Sky News presenter condemns Meghan and Harry’s ‘hypocrites” after hearing past pleas for privacy

-

Following the Duchess of Cambridge’s interview with Ellen DeGeneres on Sky News, a Sky News reporter has attacked Meghan Markle as well as Prince Harry.

Andrew Bolt, Sky News Australia’s host, suggested that the royal couple was hypocritical. He said this because this is the second major television interview by the Sussexes this season, despite their earlier pleas to privacy.

Harry and Meghan took a break from their royal duties last year, and moved to California.

Eight months ago, Oprah Winfrey was their first interview.

Bolt, 62, asked how Meghan’s appearance on The Ellen Show matched up with their previous requests.

He laughed: “But wait, didn’t the same Meghan Markle and Prince Harry declare last year they’d adopted a ‘revised media approach to ensure diverse and open access to their work’ and this ‘updated approach aims to engage with grassroots media organisations and young, up-and-coming journalists’?

“When was Ellen DeGeneres’ last time she was categorized as a “young, up-and coming journalist”?”

Bolt’s guest on the show, YouTuber and commentator Daisy Cousens, agreed and highlighted the “cognitive dissonance” in making major public appearances after asking for “privacy”.
