A blogger who loves bargains and bought her first house by herself has shared her money-saving tips with us.
Aimee Wilkinson, 35, plans to save £6,000 this year to fund a renovation of her ‘dream home’ in Leeds, according to LeedsLive.
She intends to pay the full cost of the refurb through the sale of items, cutting down on spending, and making savings. In 2022 she will also aim for maximum value on all the items she purchases.
Aimee has done extensive research on how to manage her pennies and pounds in daily life and is now looking into the benefits of becoming a homeowner.
She’s making a good start in reducing her household expenses. Comparing providers is an easy way to save money.
The marketing professional recently switched to Plusnet’s £21.99 fibre broadband, saving her £108 a year compared with her previous supplier.
She told LeedsLive: “Saving £9 a month might not seem like a lot to some people, but that adds up to over £100 a year. If someone added that on to your bills you’d notice.
“But value to me means small changes that add up. It’s also about getting value from what you pay for. As well as my day job I also run a fashion blog, so having reliable broadband isn’t a choice for me – it’s a necessity.”
Aimee says she has also taken advice from her family and friends regarding how to save money. This has allowed her to be confident in finding big deals.
She explained that her father raised her to understand the importance of money and taught her how to do the most thorough research to ensure she gets a good deal.
Selling items she doesn’t need or use any more, cancelling unnecessary subscriptions and making lists of upcoming purchases are also important parts of her money saving regime.
