Where does Tyson Fury’s win leave the world heavyweight scene?

Terri Harper lost her title as world champion to Alycia Baumgardner. It appeared that the Brit was knocked out while standing.

Harper was back in the ring for her first time in over a year after she broke her hand in her previous performance.

She looked at the pace of the first bell and survived a scare in round two before being stopped minutes later.

Harper was shocked when Baumgardner hit Harper with a right-hand. Harper then seemed to be knocked off his feet while standing.

Although the new champion was able land a left-hand follow-up, referee Mark Lyson intervened quickly to end the fight.

Tony Bellew, an analyst and ex-world champion, later stated that Harper was indeed “asleep on her feet”.

Baumgardner lost one of her 11 professional fights. “Ive dreamed of this moment, I put it in my head and looked at myself in the mirror every day and told myself I’d be world champion.

“I was impressed by her enthusiasm when she arrived. As the challenger, I had 100 confidence when I arrived over here. She didn’t have that.

“I know a lot of people haven’t seen me but I was given a platform to show that I can box and fight.”
