Buckingham Palace announced Monday the plans for Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations, which will be held in recognition of the monarch’s 70 years on the throne this June, BBC reported.

Next month marks 70 years since Queen Elizabeth took the throne. The celebrations to mark this milestone, much like the 2012 Diamond Jubilee celebrations for the longest-serving monarch of the United Kingdom’s History, will be held in the summer.

The palace announced that four days of celebrations will take place, beginning on June 2nd and ending on June 5. The kingdom will observe the celebrations as a holiday. Banks and municipal buildings will be closed.

Street parties and a concert featuring some of the best musicians in the world will be part of the festivities. “biggest entertainment stars”BBC reported that the BBC offered a chance to visit the Queen’s residences.

A competition will be held to invent a new dessert. Finalists will be judged by a panel that will include Dame Mary Berry and “MasterChef” judge Monica Galetti, BBC reported. BBC reported that the winning recipe for pudding will be made available to the public for all official lunches.

There will also be a parade and a service at St. Paul’s Cathedral in London, according to NBC News.

The jubilee will also be Queen Elizabeth’s first without her husband the late Duke of Edinburgh Prince Philip who died last January. The jubilee will also mark Queen Elizabeth’s debut in the wake the COVID-19 epidemic.

“I think during this forthcoming jubilee she will be less visible than she has been for all the previous jubilees because clearly account will be taken of her age and her health at the time things are happening,”Majesty magazine’s managing editor Joe Little told The Guardian.
