Ah, the Golden Globes.
Nothing is quite like the January night when film and television collide under the same roof. It’s a magical place where champagne flows freely and anything can happen. And we do mean Anything.
This year, for instance, will certainly be a—yes—unprecedented one. Amid criticism of the Hollywood Foreign Press and surging coronavirus cases, the ceremony will not be televised nor will there be an audience or red carpet. The ceremony won’t have any winners who surprise us with drunken acceptance speeches or red carpet arrivals that leave our jaws on floor for the first-time in its 75-plus years of existence.
It’s worth looking back at all the crazy that has happened to us. The annual Hollywood Foreign Press Association party is the center for all things crazy, from missing winners to drunk presenters to confusing speeches to dips into the pool.
