Two males approached a 15-year-old girl on the street and stabbed her in the stomach.
Police were dispatched to Horwich, Bolton, at 11.50 on Friday to investigate reports of an ‘incredibly terrifying’ incident.
Two males in their late teens approached the young victim in Chorley Road, before stabbing her in the stomach.
Investigators believe that the girl was not intended target.
She was admitted to the hospital with minor injuries and she has been released.
The incident has not been connected to any arrests.
Police have issued an appeal to the public for information regarding the attack that took place near Victoria Road.
Detective Inspector Andy Wright from GMP’s Bolton District stated: “Understandably this was an incredibly frightening ordeal for the young girl and thankfully she only sustained minor injuries, but the outcome could have been far worse.
“We have used all possible avenues of enquiry to investigate the circumstances. At the moment, this is being treated as an isolated incident. However we don’t believe the victim was the intended victim.
“Detectives are continuing to investigate to ensure we identify the males responsible and bring them to justice but I would urge anyone who may have been in the area and has information to come forward and assist police.”
