A group of 20 people beat two men to death after they allegedly killed a cow.
The attack took place in Madhya Pradesh’s Seoni district, India. A third man was also left with injuries.
Police stated that 20 people visited Sampat Batti (who belonged to a local tribe) and accused them of murdering the animal.
According to reports, the beating took place and the men died on their way to the hospital. NDTV.
After the attack, Congressman Arjun Kakodia stood on the Jabalpur Nagpur Highway in protest and demanded that the mob be punished.
During their investigation, police visited the house of the murder victims and charged twenty people with murder.
The victims had large quantities of meat in their homes.
Additional Superintendent of the Police SK Maravi said “Two tribal men have died. It was alleged a group of 15-20 people went to the victims’ house, accused them of killing a cow and assaulted them.
“Two men died in hospital while another suffered minor injuries.
“A case of murder has been registered… police teams are searching for the accused. Some of the accused are named (in the complaint) and others are unidentified. We have taken two-three suspects into custody.

“Some 12kg of meat has been found in the victims’ house.”
Brajesh Batti (third man to be injured in the attack) described how Dhansa was beat by the mob with sticks.
According to Kamal Nath, Congress leader and politician in Madhya Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh has the highest level of crime against tribal men.
Nath said: “I demand from the government that strict action be taken against the culprits by announcing a high-level inquiry into this incident.
“Families of victims should receive all assistance and government funding should be used to treat the injured man.
