UFO sightings have risen to hundreds, bringing the total number of UFO sightings to over 500

The Office of the Director of National Intelligence has published an unclassified report about unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP), also known as UFO sightings.

According to UAP, the office received reports that were not previously known and discovered reports from old files. This increased the number of UAP reports by 144 to over 500. Annual report

Up to August 2022, there were 510 UAP reports filed by the tracking agency. According to the report, 247 of these were new reports while 119 were either reported or discovered after the initial assessments deadline.

All-Domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO) and the ODNI, which both work to track the UAP sightings, believe the nearly 400-report increase can be attributed to a better understanding of possible threats that UAPs present and a decrease in stigma around reporting UAPs.

The AARO was able analyse some of these reports and classified 163 sightings either as balloon-like entities or unmanned aircraft systems (UAS). Six were characterized by clutter, such birds, plastic bags or weather events.

Additional analysis was needed to determine the 171 remaining uncharacterized UAPs. “unusual flight characteristics or performance capabilities,”The report stated these words.

Most sightings were made by U.S. Navy or U.S. Air Force aviators who saw the flying objects on duty.
