Cristiano Ronaldo claimed he was a world-class football player back in 2017, but that didn’t go down well with Xavi, the Barcelona legend.
Ronaldo explained that Portugal’s captain was still wearing the white and gold Real Madrid jersey. France FootballThis is: “I don’t see anyone better than me. No player does things that I cannot do myself, but I see things others can’t do.
“I am the most complete player.” he confidently declared. “I am the greatest player of all time – in the good as in the bad.
Ronaldo is now back in Manchester United colours and has taken to England with relative ease. He scored six goals in eight games across all competitions.
His failure to adjust upon his return from the Premier League was likely to have only strengthened the belief that Ronaldo is the greatest ever to wear a pair of boots.
Four years later, the Ronaldo-vs. Lionel Messi debate continues.
Xavi, an ex camp Nou hero, insists that Ronaldo is not the greatest player between the two – and even among all time.
Xavi was a barca worker who spent more than ten year watching Messi’s brilliance up close. His assessment of the ‘best’ situation was no surprise.
Speaking to Tot Costa de Catalunya Ràdio shrotly after Ronaldo’s self-asssement, Xavi explained: “Messi does more things compared to Cristiano.
“Cristiano may consider himself the greatest player of all time, but for those who watch him train, there is no comparison.” he added.
“Messi is the greatest in history, and it’s what we see.
Ronaldo and Messi have been pushing each other for the better part of a decade, winning a total of eleven Ballon d’Or’s.
The Argentine – now Paris Saint-Germain’s, has the advantage over his Portuguese counterpart Messi, who boasts six to Ronaldo’s five.
In an interview with Piers Morgan, Ronaldo reaffirmed his claims that he is the greatest player of all time two years ago.
“Messi’s in the history of football,” Ronaldo explained. “But I think I have to have six or seven or eight to be above him,” he said, referring to the Ballon d’Or.
