Season 2 Legacies Rafael died, only to be resurrected by the Necromancer Ben Geurens. The resurrection seems not to have been successful. In Season 3, Episode 2, Rafael is seen coughing up black slime, which killed Chad Jazz Terrier (Charles Jazz Terrier). Hope Mikaelson (Danielle Rose Russell) devises a plan for Rafael to avoid his death. Rafael is kept in prison by her.
Walt Waithe (Jason Turner), his father, and Lucia (Sophina Burn), his long-lost mother (both Lucia), agree to remain in that new world. Rafael can be with his loved ones and create and determine his happiness in this new world. Rafael’s friends will be there to say goodbye, and then he is gone. Rafael is alive and well, meaning that the show could bring Rafael back anytime they wish.
