New Docuseries Reveals Prince Charles’ Pre-Wedding Confession

ITV’s docuseries The Diana Interview: Revenge Of A PrincessPenny Thornton claimed that Princess Diana had revealed many secrets to her before her death in 1997. Thornton explained, “One of the most shocking things that Diana told me was that the night before the wedding, Charles told her that he didn’t love her.” She continued to add, “I think Charles didn’t want to go into the wedding on a false premise.”

Princess Diana Was ‘Devastated’

Thornton assumed that Charles wanted to be fully open with his soon-to-be wife about their expectations for their marriage. The confession of her groom was so “devastating” Diana was so convinced that she would do the unthinkable for Diana. “She didn’t want to go through with the wedding at that point,” Thornton explained. “She thought about not attending the wedding.” History confirms that Diana was able to marry Charles and remained married for 15 years. Here are some previous clues about their actual relationship

While Diana seemed to be quite infatuated with Charles during their engagement period and had made public statements about it, Charles had given hints that the pair were not as infatuated with one another. During the couple’s engagement interview, Charles infamously retorted to a reporter’s assumption that the two were “in love” With an awkward but clear, “Whatever ‘in love’ means.”

Prince Charles and Princess Diana’s tumultuous marriage ended in 1996 amid allegations that Charles carried on an affair with his now-wife Camilla Parker-Bowles. Thankfully the union did produce the two biggest loves of Diana’s life: her sons Prince William and Prince Harry.
